It’s been too long without an update, and in the meantime several exciting things have been happening!
First, the cabinets shipped much faster than we expected, so they are now sitting unassembled in the living room:
We didn’t want to unwrap too many before we had somewhere to put them, but we took a peek and they look really nice.
Second, Alex built the frame to add a small half-wall. This will serve as the backing for the dishwasher and an end shelf, as well as adding some much-needed counter space on top.
Inspector Lun approves the construction
Third, Sara refinished the wall in the dining room where the extra cabinets will go. It’s now primed and ready for whatever color of paint she finally chooses (unsurprisingly, finding a good wall color is trickier than it seems).
And finally, an electrician will be rewiring the kitchen for us this week, as well as replacing the main panel, which was getting to be too small. It should be a pretty quick job since all the walls are open.
The path forward from there is: plumbing > insulation > drywall > cabinet installation! And of course there are more steps beyond that, but the cabinets will be a huge turning point, so that’s the main goal for now.
