Finally, Square One

We hired out drywall to another neighbor-friend, and he got most of it done over the long weekend, finishing up the primer yesterday. The kitchen looks like a real room again!

It kind of feels like we’re finally at square one, i.e. where most kitchen remodels begin…

Our cabinets are custom-built, DIY assembly. They were delivered flat-packed.

We got pretty excited and started putting together cabinetry this morning. Got probably half of it assembled, but Sara wants to do some painting before actually attaching any cabinetry to the walls. Here’s the first bit of paint up:

The color is named “Downpour” and it’s so pretty! Yes it’s dark, but in the end not much of it will actually be showing. Dining room is done in lighter shades of the same hue.

And with cabinet construction underway, it’s finally time to do some purchasing and scheduling for things we’ve looked at but haven’t actually bought yet: dishwasher, fridge, countertops, light fixtures, and a sink, to name a few. Look forward to more posts as all these pieces start coming together!
