It has been a while, so here is a quick update:
First, the big news is that all the drywall and plaster is gone from both walls and ceiling in the kitchen. This is a big deal! Alex did most of the demo while Sara was buried in homework. We are both sick of the demo stage and very ready to move on to putting in new things!
Speaking of Sara’s homework, one of her classes is web page design, which is why this blog now looks a little weird. You’re welcome. (Goal is to eventually fix what I broke while trying to add the linoleum squares on the home page, but it might take a while.)
Progress has also been made on the de-texturing and patching of non-kitchen walls where we had removed wallpaper. There are approximately 1.5 walls to go in that project department.
Up next, we are getting electrician bids and having the floor refinished! A former neighbor is doing the floor for us. This will involve creating a new transition where the half-wall used to be, as well as of course sanding off the remaining glue. We are all excited to see this long-buried, 90-year-old floor sans glue.
One tiny silver lining of our current pandemic situation is we now have much more time to work on the kitchen (DIY home remodel project = social distancing made easy), so hopefully we can bring you some more updates in the next few weeks. Stay safe, stay home, and wash your hands, friends.
